| 51 of 55 people found the following review helpful  105XL is interchangeable with 100 and 100XL, By This review is from: Lexmark high yield 105XL Value Black ink cartridge (Office Product) The 105XL cartridge can be modified to work with the any printer that uses the 100 or 100XL.The 100, 100XL and 105XL are all the SAME physical cartridge, just with different size ink fills. The 105XL physically fits into the S605 with no modification. When installed, the printer says "unsupported ink cartridge." How does it know, seeing as it's just an ink well and not a print head? Under the label at the top is an RFID chip. All you have to do is swap the chip with an 100 or 100XL cartridge and the 105XL will work in your Lexmark printer. I purchased some 105XL cartridges and have replaced one already.For the Pro 901-everything thing worked great,Lexmark website even shows it to be compatible. But Amazon shows "NO this will not work for your printer" I'm sure that on other Lexmark printers you may have to change the chip. Maybe this will be helpful to someone 21 of 21 people found the following review helpful Works great in place of 100 or 100XL carts, Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Lexmark high yield 105XL Value Black ink cartridge (Office Product) As the previous review mentioned, you can swap this cartridge in place of a much higher priced 100 or 100xl cartridge. I just peeled back the label and cut the plastic piece holding the RF ID down. Then swapped it to the new cartridge and placed some scotch tape on it to hold it down.The only downside is that the printer still thinks it is low on ink, since the ink counter doesn't get reset. The printer still thinks you have the old cartridge in there. Oh well. Just ignore it and keep printing. One other tip, make sure you have it pressed in all the way into the printer. Mine didn't work at first, it looked like it was still out of ink. Then I reseated it firmly and it worked. |
